Arrivals and Departures
Students are expected to arrive at their homestay on the Sunday before the course begins and depart on the Saturday following the end of the course. Younger students should include airport transfers with their booking to ensure that they are in the care of an adult from the point of arrival until their point of departure unless they are travelling with an adult. Older students can travel by public transport with the permission of their parents, however we recommend including taxi transfers for all students.
Class Sizes / Minimum Numbers
Courses are subject to a minimum of 10 students. This number is required to make the rugby coaching safe, effective, challenging and fun. Please contact us to check course availability before booking. If your chosen dates are under or over subscribed we may ask you to choose the nearest alternative dates.
Courses are available to groups to book. If you represent a school, rugby club or other institution please contact us via the contact form with your requirements. Please note we require minimum group size of 10 people for purposes of rugby coaching.
Age Groups of Students
Our English Plus Rugby programme is for 13-17 year old students and includes all of the legal safeguarding requirements for under-18s. We also run separate groups for 18-25 year old students. We cannot mix under-18s and over-18s so please make sure that if you are booking a group they are not mixed ages across this barrier. Please contact us with your requirements.
We are often asked if there are opportunities for assessment by rugby coaches with a view to playing professional rugby in the longer term. There is no formal ‘talent spotting’ included in the programme, however gifted individuals may well be identified by the coaches. You never know what lies around the corner, but we cannot promise or guarantee anything.
What you need to bring with you
Remember that the climate in the UK can involve rain! You will need clean kit each day so bring at least 2 (better 3) sets of everything so that your homestay can wash and dry your kit in between. We recommend you wear a tracksuit or shorts & t-shirt (depending on the time of year) and clean indoor shoes for your English classes in the mornings. Bring your boots and any other wet weather clothing in a sports bag for the afternoons. We normally advise people to ‘travel light’ but in the case of rugby kit it’s better to have too much than too little!
We carry insurance to cover our legal responsibilities. We recommend you take out travel insurance to cover your possessions and any medical expenses in the event of illness or injury. Although all coaches are fully qualified professionals who abide by RFU coaching rules and have your personal safety at the core of all they do, rugby is a physical sport that entails a certain amount of contact with other people.
